How to Get Fast Webpage Ranking Status with Search Engines
Your Keywords Must Fulfill These Vital Criteria to Get Quality Traffic
Hello Fellow Webbie,
Do your website keywords meet these 3 vital criteria in order to receive top quality traffic?
The statistics are clear: only 10% of new websites succeed at generating decent traffic that converts to sales. The reason is that the other 90% of website owners (or webmasters) have ignored one (or more) of these 3 vital criteria when choosing their keywords.
Make no mistake, choosing the right keywords for your website is absolutely fundamental to it's success. I presume that because you're reading this article, you are either curious whether you have these 3 criteria nailed, or are new to this whole Internet thing and are just happy for the information.
Whatever your reason/s, if you want to know these 3 crucial principles for choosing the optimum keywords for your website, then read on...
Criteria #1 - Target Keywords that Generate significant Traffic
Sounds obvious, but you'll be surprised how many people miss this one. Let me elaborate:
When you setup a page, you should choose about 5 relevant keywords or phrases that are verified traffic generators i.e. that you know are fairly common keywords or phrases used in search engines to search for the subject matter that your website is about.
The key principle here is relevant. If you pick words that are not really relevant to the information provided in your website then you'll rank very poorly (if at all). So, make sure that the keywords you choose really do fit the description and content of your website and make sure that they are actually used by people to find content on websites like yours.
Criteria #2 - Your Chosen Keywords Must Have Commercial Value
What this means is that you want to use words and phrases that specifically target the type of customer that you're after. If your keywords are too general then you'll get all-and-sundry reading your landing page, but then losing interest and moving away because they were not that particularly interested in the information (or service) provide.
What I'm trying to say is focus on a target group of hungry prospects that really do want to know more. You do this by choosing keywords that are specific to your website. Relevant is good but specific is better. The resulting page hits might come down but the quality of those hits will be much higher. Now you are addressing an audience that really wants to read what you have to offer. Surely that's better than thousands of casual browsers?
Criteria #3 - Avoid Very Competitive Keywords
Wait a minute! Criteria #1 said "target keywords that generate significant traffic". so what's it got to be? Okay let me explain...
Using keywords that are very highly competitive and used extensively by just about every competitor you have is just going to lead to poor rankings for your site, because your competitors have been using these keywords for longer than you and they have already established a strong web presence. So to compete with that will cost you a lot of money and time.
But if you focus on a niche area, then a sub-niche of that, and finally a micro-niche within that, you'll probably have a much stronger chance of maintaining a dominant ranking for those very specific, micro-niche targeted keywords and doing this you'd be meeting criteria #2 - focusing on genuinely interested prospects.
The market playing field is never fairly stacked toward everyone, so just choose one that's stacked in your favor.
Let's recap. Choose keywords (5 is optimal) that:
- Real people actually type into search engines for the type of information or service that you're providing.
- Target the exact type of prospect for the specific product or service you provide.
- And find less competitive keywords that you will be able to dominate.
